I like a clean house. But the truth is, I hardly ever get one. To say that it's hard to keep up this house is an understatement. I would give my right arm to have someone come clean and pick up my house every day. Actually, I just want it to stay clean for one day. That's all I ask. The other day, I looked around and just shook my head. I'm trying really hard to not go crazy in the disaster, but when paper and books and food and cups and shoes and undies and swords and crayons are all over the freaking house, it makes a mama crabby.
I looked around, and this is what I saw...
Teeny tiny scraps of paper. Yes, I know it's great that they boys are practicing their cutting skills. It's not great to pick that crap up though. Along with other papers, and just junk laying everywhere.
And someone who "just wants to be alone" at all times because "you guys like ruin my life every day" --so she colors on the floor. Which usually turns into Everleigh or Madden getting the pencils and taking them places where they shouldn't be.
And the kiddos trying to be good helpers. Which we all know causes more of a mess than anything. Don't worry, I still let them do it...
And what the living room/dining room looks like on most given days.
Random books laying all over... (and a stool that belongs in the basement)
I know I will wake up one day and wonder where my little monsters have gone...that the time has gone by so quickly. If only time could slow down and my house could be cleaned up.
Instead--we have snow. I get it, I live in WI and it's the end of November. It doesn't mean I have to like it. But the kids sure do.
This weekend we made ourselves a little treat.
(if one is smiling, it's good enough)
We were going to give some to our wonderful neighbors...but somebody (cough Everleigh cough) licked about half of the pretzels before she dipped them! HAHA. I guess we can't share now!
Sunday, Craig and I drove to the frozen Tundra to watch the Packer vs Vikings game. I was totally prepared. The forecast was a high of 21 degrees, so I wore two pair of pants, a turtleneck, sweatshirt, fleece jacket AND my winter coat. I had on three pairs of socks and my winter boots. I was set. I had packed my purse with our camera, hand warmers, extra mittens, blah blah blah. We parked about a mile from the stadium and walked. No biggy. Until we got to the gate and security told me that I was not allowed to bring a purse in the stadium!! HUH?! He said I could just discard it. Ummm...NO. So back we walked, to the car, in the wind and cold to put my purse in the car. Aaaaand walked back.
Therefore, I left the camera in the car too. Thankful for phone cameras, but still not the same.
The game--well, the game ended in a tie. Yes, a tie. It was so nerve wracking at the end! And after overtime, I was literally frozen. I'm quite sure that 5 hours is the longest I've ever sat in the freezing cold. It was miserable.
However, the experience of Lambeau was wonderful. Having a day for just Craig and I was much needed, and wonderful too. Just like we don't often have a clean house, we don't often get 'us' time. It was fun to be a couple and not mom and dad for a day.
I'm looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this week. I hope you all enjoy time with your loved ones too.
XO,
B
