Everleigh had her 4K parade. ARRR.
Even Grandpa Mike came!
I took Friday off, so Everleigh and I made dirt pudding and delivered them to the classrooms.
Then we waited for the school parade to begin...
After school, we ran to visit Uncle Larry so he could see the kids dressed up.
Paisley practiced communicating with uncle Larry. He looks at a letter, she watches his eye movement and guesses the letters--then the word.
After Larry's, we attended the school dance. Then Halloween morning we carved pumpkins. It's the latest we've ever carved. With Disney and our schedule so packed, we squeezed in an hour to quick carve them.
Then....TRICK or TREAT! Paisley was a DJ. (that played real music...she was the hit!), Everleigh was a pirate, Madden was a skylander and Hudson was sorcerer Mickey.
I love Halloween. We always have our family over--and they walk with all of the kids for a bit, then head back to the house. Then Mel and Cal and Craig and I continue on with the kids. It's one of my favorite traditions.
The morning after Halloween, I had to leave for a national conference in West Virginia. My work group and I were presenting and receiving an award. It was the longest I'd ever been away from the kids. But it sounds like everything went really well.
Right after our presentation...
And just before receiving our award...
I saw things I will never see again in my life. The poorest of the poor and the fanciest shmanciest resort ever. It was hard being gone, but was a great experience and a great milestone in my career.
Because I was gone, somebody had to cook!
Say hello to the mini mite hockey players, Hudders and Mad Mike.
After the football debacle, and Madden refusing to play t-ball half of the games, I was super hesitant to sign them up for hockey. Number one, it's a long season. And we don't quit. Number two, it's expensive. Number three, it's cold. And if I'm going to freeze, it's going to be because I'm watching my two favorite boys have fun.
I don't want to jinx anything, but the first two weeks have gone great. They love it. They are flying past everyone while using the skating trainers, so now we need to wean them from those. They may not love it as much when they are falling with every few steps they take, but we'll see.
It was really fun watching them!
As a tween and teen, I loved every minute I spent at the rink. I may have been scoping out boys, but whatevs. I love hockey. And so far, they do too.
