School Boys

The day was here. H and M were off to 4 year old Kindergarten.
Last Sunday night we read "The Night Before Preschool". We were talking about the boy in the book who was nervous and scared. Hudson said, "I'm very nervous too, mom." And Madden said, "It's okay, Hudson. I'll protect you. I'm very brave." Oh these boys melt my heart.

When Madden grows up he wants to be a Farmer. He also wants to have 1,000 horses, 8 kids and live near a Red Box.

Hudson is very indecisive...in every area of his life, from picking out undies to deciding what snack to eat. It's painful. He said he wanted to be a police officer. However, after he saw Madden's sign, he wanted to be a farmer. Then he decided he wanted to work at Target. So who knows. I just hope he can decide by the time he's like 30.

LOVE.

Little sister had to get in there too! (big sister was already at school)

Their very own lockers. Pretty exciting stuff!

This next picture is how we left the boys the first day. They gave us hugs and kisses, (I cried), and there they were...big kids in school. Leaving them was hard. I worried all day. Craig picked them up and they had nothing but great things to say. They loved it. WHEW.

Day two, I met Craig at school to help with drop off again. However, day two did not go so well. They flat out refused to go in. No crying or screaming, just refusal. We gave hugs, and they followed us out. We brought them back to the room, and they just kept running after us. It was terrible. We ended up having to shut the door and hold it shut while they tried to get out. Once I got back to work, I called to check on them. They were playing legos together and were just fine. When Craig picked them up, they talked about how much fun they had. Days three and four went just fine.

Their teacher did tell me that on the first day, the kids went around and told the other kids their name. When it was Madden's turn, he told the class his name was Syndrome. (!! Bahahaha!!) (Syndrome is the villain on The Incredibles)
When I asked Madden what his favorite part of school was, he said circle time. When I asked Hudson, he said everything.

This week, Paisley also started CCD classes. She will go to religion class every Wednesday night. Her teachers seem great and her classroom even has its very own mini church to learn all about the parts of mass.

The kids love swinging. I'm going to cry when it's too snowy and cold for them to go out, because it seriously keeps them busy a good part of the day. It's also where they do a good chunk of tattling-- moooooomm, paisley won't let me have the swing now, said in the whiniest voice possible.

Hudson's been suffering with terrible allergies. He had another doctor appointment and had to go with me to work for a bit. He was so good...just colored and looked at books. :) Even though our alone time with the kids is quite unconventional, I still cherish it.

Hudson and Madden started flag football this week too. Yes, it was a busy week! When we got to the field, everyone was pumped up!

But then it was time to participate. And in classic H&M style, they refused. Seriously, what am I doing wrong that my children all of the sudden refuse to do anything?! See them? Towards the bottom of the photo. Yah, the two sitting when everyone else is getting their flags on.

Everleigh cheered them on. Actually, she said, "Those boys better do it or else no 'lectronics." Even Monchichi waved from the crowd, but they still refused.

Finally, after Daddy when down, they put their flags on and played catch a bit.
(they are at the bottom most of the photo)

And by a bit, I mean a tiny bit. Because after their ball went out of sight after a poor throw, they sat down and pouted.

By this time, Craig was so fuming, he had to take Everleigh to the park. I watched, as they sat, taking off their shoes and socks and crying in the middle of the field. Then, I took them off the field and made them sit and watch the rest of the time.
SIGH. It's one of those days when you just feel like you are a terrible parent. Not that participating in a sport is the end all, be all. But the disrespectful, refusal, I'm-going-to-make-life-difficult-for-my-parents attitude is killing me.
Here's to a good night sleep and a refreshed attitude tomorrow. :)
Thanks for checking in.
XOXO,
Brook
