This week we were able to be outside when the ice cream guy rode by. We live in such a fun neighborhood, and who can pass up an ice cream treat on a nice summer evening?? Not our family, especially Craig! I wish you could have seen him digging for cash when we saw him coming!
This week, my mom, Grandma Brenda watched Paisley for a couple of afternoons. They had a really fun time together. I think when Grandpa Mike arrives home from over seas he's going to be in for a big surprise...my mom has been creating Paisley's playhouse at her house! She has her own drawing table and stool, bean bag, potty chair, and tons of toys!! I guess that's what happens when your only child has a baby! We also visited the Children's Museum and went for a great dinner in downtown Eau Claire. However, the walk back to the car was anything but great...unless you love carrying a kicking and screaming child 4 blocks while strangers stare at you...then, maybe it sounds fun to you.
Craig brought Paisley to "Sensory Fun" at the Family Resource Center, where I work. She loved the blue sand, water table, play-doh, bubbles and sidewalk chalk. And even though our child is always messy...she wanted nothing to do with the really messy stuff. I was so wishing she would drive right into the corn starch and water...that's the best. But nope...not this time anyway. Plus, maybe I didn't care because I just went back to my office when she was done and didn't have to worry about any of the clean-up!
Other than that...we've basically just been dealing with a 13 year old in a 1 1/2 year old body!! Okay, so I have a ton of experience with kids...I mean, I write for a local paper on parenting issues and teach classes on child development and disciplining children. However...Paisley is going to test every theory I've ever taught. Wow she is sassy and independent!! This week has been one of the worst for tantrums...I can only imagine what the two's will bring (besides two more babies to take care of...AHH)!! I can be very good at redirecting her...for so long! We are pretty sure she was born without an "inside voice"...which maybe I was too...I mean, it's a good possibility...so for now we are just hoping that the twins are born with inside voices and that they can hear when they get out!
Okay, so maybe I was wrong...what was I thinking...I do love to talk...so apparently this whole writing from my own point of view isn't going to be an issue! :)
Twin update: 11 weeks
This week I go in for my 12 week (although I'll be 11 1/2 weeks) appointment. I am SO anxious to hear their heartbeats and learn more about this twin stuff. I've looked at a few books and online, but am not really finding what I want. I'm not sure what I want...but I haven't found it yet. This week the babies are just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig. (what the heck is a fig??) They are now almost fully formed. Their hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
That's it from the Berg's...have a great week!
